Remembering Pantasya Ng Bayan

There came a time when the cinemas in the Philippines were so hot. Not "hot" because there was no air conditioner but hot because of the type of movies that were shown then. That time when bold movies were still playing in the big screens. There also a term coined as "Pantasya ng Bayan" or the nation's fantasy.

That accolade was given to Joyce Jimenez who was the hottest bold star at that time. She became literally the pantasya or fantasy of every male audience in the Philippines. Her movies were all blockbuster  and until now holds the box office record for bold movies.

But those pantasya movies are only part of the past. When SM cinemas decided not to show bold movies anymore in their movie houses, bold movies became extinct in Philippine cinemas and the word "Pantasya ng Bayan" proved to be a thing only in the past.
